Meet Marlie & Justin
A little background:
Marlie was a vet tech, Justin was a chef. In 2013 Petventures San Diego was born. In 2016 they purchased their home and property in Ramona, Ca. At that time they Incorporated, but Petventures was taken so we went with Pet Adventures Inc but dba Dusty Tails Lodge, because Ramona gets a little dusty.
March/April 2020 the books were wiped clean, Marlie's father in Oregon was diagnosed with cancer so they thought it would be a good idea put the house on the market to spend some time with him. It sold very quickly.
They moved to Gold Beach, OR. Where they operated as Pet Adventures Inc and cared for dogs while families visited Gold Beach and took rides on the awesome Jerry's Jets. Once the season ended and winter started to set in, they made the decision to move back to San Diego and get business going again there.
With the insane market it took 9 long months to get back into a home where they could care for dogs once again. Now located in Sycamore Canyon in Poway they have a space to care for dogs again.
Our Philosophy
Marlie watched countless dogs come into the vet over and over again for “sick after boarding”. A traditional kennel can easily be compared to a jail cell with small quarters, limited freedoms, anxious noisy neighbors, and some require their own food to be fed over the dog’s normal diet. Modern dog owners have created such a loving and comforting environment in our homes for dogs these days, that a traditional kennel is not an enjoyable experience for most dogs. So much so they become ill while boarding and you come home to a sick anxious pup with a bill for boarding and now a bill for the vet.
Here at Pet Adventures Inc, we strive to be that close friend that you always leave your dog with, and we aim to always be there for you when you need us. We provide as close to an “in-home” environment as possible. Dogs are able to play, socialize and nap freely while under our care. They sleep inside the house, some on their beds and some in a crate. They stay on their diets and medication regime and we do all we can to make sure your pup is comfortable enough to eat. We stay on top of their health and keep you aware of any concerns that arise. We provide regular text updates, photos and videos of your pup having a blast while in our care.
Our goal is for every client to become a regular client. We aim to create a bond and a relationship with your pup so we can care for them for years to come. The more comfortable your pup is when they come over the better time we all have! We do not accept new clients over the holiday times, so plan ahead and don't save the first trip for a holiday!
Testimonials
What some of our clients have said about us: (Click here)
Our family has entrusted Marlie and Justin with our family dog Brody’s care many many times over during the last 5 years. Brody’s stays ranged from extended weekends to multiple weeks at a time. Each and every stay Brody was over the moon happy to go with Marlie and Justin, never looking back. When Brody returned home...
Justin and Marlie provide an outstanding atmosphere for dogs to experience a true home away from home. Our dog was always ecstatic to see them and was happily tired when returning home from an overnight or an extended stay. We have complete faith in their care and understanding of dogs.
